Our Study Habits Pin is inspired from an old TV set I grew up with.
Growing up in East Oakland I was often not allowed to go outside to play, because the neighborhood I grew up in was not safe.
My family grew up sharing one old TV. It was our main distraction.
Studying was not something we focused on throughout our primary school days. Our public-school systems have been always underserved and therefore cannot cultivate the best learning experiences. As long as you showed up, did your homework (most days), and semi participated, you were golden.
It wasn't until I went to college that I realized having the TV on while studying was not going to get me further then graduating from a sub-par high school.
Combining that inspiration with the knowledge of how much first-generation kids struggle, not just getting into college but graduating, we created the Study Habits Pin.
